Bimini, the closest island in the Bahamas to the United States, is a perfect destination for a short visit. Here’s how to make the most of a few hours in this beautiful locale:

Activities I did

• Visit the Beaches: Spend some time at the stunning beaches like Radio Beach or Blister Beach, where you can relax and enjoy the crystal-clear waters.

• Toured the island with a local tour guide The Fountain of Youth is a legendary spring that supposedly restores the youth of anyone who drinks or bathes in its waters. The myth has been a part of various cultures and has captured the imagination of many throughout history.

• Sample Local Cuisine: Grab a bite at a local restaurant. Try traditional Bahamian dishes like conch fritters or fresh seafood. Be Aware of alcohol drinks, they are not for the light hearted! Shrimp Dinner… Need I say more ? 10/10

• Visit the Bimini Museum: Learn about the island’s history and culture, including its famous residents like Ernest Hemingway.

• Explore the Local Culture: Take a stroll through Alice Town, the main settlement, where you can find colorful buildings, local shops, and art galleries.

• Snorkeling and Diving: If time permits, consider a quick snorkeling trip to explore the vibrant marine life and coral reefs nearby.

Tips

• Transportation: We booked a toured guide so highly recommend getting one if it’s for a few hours but if you're on a budget or plan to stay longer renting a golf cart or bicycle for easy exploration of the island would also work fine considering the island is small.

• Stay Hydrated: The tropical climate can be quite warm, so drink plenty of water...I cannot stress that enough.

• Keep Cash on you: Although it is a tourist destination, it is still an island. I've encountered business card machines not working but luckily, I went with someone that had cash on them. Note- American or Bahamian USD is FINE!!! Also, the ferry between south and north is cash only so keep small change.

• Time Management: Keep an eye on the clock to ensure you make it back to your departure point on time as it is easy to get caught up with its stunning scenery and rich culture.
